Default Too hot for leather?

Considering it gets up into the 90's around here during the summer, when looking at gear I'm wondering if I should go with leathers or other alternatives.

I'm either considering the Joe Rocket GPX 2-piece suit and associated gloves/boots..

Or a more 'street-oriented' setup with Icon - all their field armor pieces, a mesh jacket and some of their reinforced jeans.

Thoughts?

i like icon the best out of everthing i tried on. id stick with a leather jacket with a removeable liner if your only going to buy one jacket, if not get a mesh one for 100 bucks or less along with your leather one. just depends on how you can work it out.

Well is the leather jacket needed with the armor? I suppose it protects different things; the armor for impact, the leather for rash. But with the armor on under would a textile protect against rash just as well or not?

Basically it comes down to... is armor + textile/mesh as good as leather by itself.

imo, yes but you still need the armor for the added impact protection and leather will slide better then textile. textile will burn up fast too.

My main reasons for thinking about not wearing leather is that it'd be cooler in the heat and also easier to use it for everyday trips (work, friend's places, etc)

the more you use the leather, the easier it becomes to manuver in. it needs a break in period, unless you go with a icon daytona retro type jacket that has pre warn leather whitch is one of the jackets i have and it kicks *** hands down on every other leather jacket i have owned.

Well I don't mean maneuvering.. I mean like leather pants would be weird to wear around whereas I could wear the icon jeans and just remove the lower leg armor with no problem.
