Just installed them today. Can't tell any difference. On the plus side they will last much longer then the standard plugs so I'll have to take all that crap apart less frequently.

Gapping iridium plugs is not recommended and not necessary. Well, at least that's what NGK says. It has to do with the iridium electrode being so thin that attempting to adjust the gap will likely end up snapping it. Also the spark is so hot that gapping it won't make any notable improvement.

 

true, the electrodes are thin but worth checking just the same.

 

I run some on my ZRX. But never noticed any difference. So when I did the plugs on the ZX I just used the standard CR9E plugs.

 

The only time I ever noticed a difference using Iridium plugs was with my KLX250S. With the IX plugs the little motor came alive. It was noticeably more responsive. The difference was about the same when comparing properly jetting and stock setups.

I think its because the bike makes such little power anyhow (18hp stock) that ANY difference is noticed, even a 1hp difference would feel like a Turbo'd out Busa.

 

So a show and tell is in order Yorg? I expect more in the Gen Tech now as well.

Show and tell? Well I didn't take any pictures of the event. Just a lot of sweating on my part in my garage. It faces the west and the evening sun down here is thermal-nuclear hot. With no ventilation to cool things off I quickly drenched everything I hovered over.

I'm at 6000 miles now and planning on 10K for the next service which should be in August. I will take lots of pics then to show the valve check/adjustment if you like.
