Default 650TS won't start

I have been trouble shooting a problem with my 650 where it would start and run great for 30 minutes then die. This weekend it did the same thing but this time it won't restart. I found some wiring coming from the stator that had melted against the exhaust and corrected that, but still won't start. I remove the voltage reg and tested it using the specs in the manual, and I don't read any resistance from red or black to the two brown leads from the stator. Does that mean the voltage reg is shot and could have the shorting out of the wiring caused it to go bad?

Turns out that the Kaw manual has the test lead polarity reversed and there was nothing wrong with the voltage reg. The problem turned out to be a split vacuum hose from the block to the carb.
