Default carb cleaning

I'm having trouble in the low rpm range when my bike is hot. It almost seems like the fuel is burning off until I throw about 5K at it in first gear then everything runs normally. But when I hit below 4K rpm's in first or 2nd gear the bike starts acting likes its going to stall.

In order to clean the carbs, do I have to fully remove the rack or can I just remove the tops of the carbs and try to get as much as possible?

I removed the carbs on my EX500 and just remember it being a pain to get all the cables hooked back up.

Remove the rack for a thorough cleaning. To me it is alot easier to do it that way. Have your carb synch gauges handy after you put the rack back in.
