when i went to put my exhaust on, this plate behind the right side peg with 3 bolts, had to come off. First, the bolts had to have threadlock. But, once the heads stripped, i just chiseled the head off the bolt. Now, i have everything back together, and the bolts drilled out, but i didnt put plate back on because it was only about an 1/8" thick, so it couldnt be much of a brace. It looks as if it is just kinda of a heat shield. I have test rode bike since putting it back together and it was fine. But, does anybody know the purpose of plate

 

The plate is a heat shield. I left mine off and also re-routed my rear brake res line.
