After many trips to the Emergency Room and a 3 day vacation with a chest tube poking me in the spine, I am hanging up my motocross boots and moving to the street. I am looking to buy a ninja 250R but I am not sure if that will big enough for me. I am a novice by far and I am not out to impress anybody. I just want something that I can have fun with and not out grow too quickly. I am 6 feet tall and 210lb. Does anybody have any suggestions ?

Anyways, I considered getting the 250 but opted for the 500. I've heard a lot of people say that they outgrew the 250 too quickly. I've never driven a motorcycle before so I figured if I was going to buy something I'd get something that I could hang on to for a while. My dad helped me check out the 500 that I bought and he took it for a quick spin (he has been riding for 30 + years and currently owns a Honda CB750 and a Kawasaki Concours) He was surprised at how much power the 500 has. He thought the 500 would be a good starting point as it would "grow" with me and I'd still probably enjoy it three or four years down the road.

OUCH!!!!!! Be careful on the street. Drivers dont look for you when your on a bike. I started my son on a 79 KZ650 last year. This month I'm getting him a 04 Katana 750. Buy cheep sell high. You can always trade up.

I personally have heard that people have out grew the 250 to quickly. Have you looked into a 500?

I agree with Bluebird and 636Chic...people get out grow the 250's real quick. Maybe start with a 500....just be careful, it's not you it's the other people that you have to watch for. B/c the sure in the hell aren't watching for you!
