Default new 10

Hey guys a little new here but am a regular on other forums for diferent types of things.
Have always gotten good intell and would like some advice from the seasoned 10 riders. I will be picking up my new blue 07 10r at the end of this week. I will be trading in my 06 zzr 600 that i got mid 05 . I have alot of riding exsperience but this is my first liter bike. I would like to know what to exspect so as not to get myself into an unexspected situation .Iknow that the new 10s have incredible power to weigth ratio wich would make for supper acceleration and top speeds with the gearing and rpms available.I gues what i need to know more than anything is where the bike changes personalities. my zzr changes around 9000 but the 10 should be some what lower with the lower redline and the larger displacment??
I gues the million dollar question is what are the diferences in what I have now and what I am getting.

alot...faster then what you have now Well I had the 05 10r, but it was my first bike. I rode it for two years, never layed over, though came close a few times. From how I rode it was a rocket from out of the dig... lol but it would start to lift the front @ around the 7-8k area in the first three gears. Not only was it fast straight, but it loves the corners and with the newer ones (07-up) having a higher centre grvity; well it tends to drop in alot easier. If I could handle it as my first bike, I'm sure you can having one for some time.

Not a 10 rider but my son has a 500 Ninja so I was checking all the Ninjas out for curiosity and I was amazed to find out that the 10 is actually (according to the Kawi web site) 2 pounds lighter than the 500! That alone should tell you something.

Welcome to the forums.
As lemac mentioned, right around 7k rpm when she wakes up. Get the suspension dialed in for you and get used to her! Suspension is the biggest key for any ride, but I think especially true for this one.

Well guys picked up my 10 today . got rained out at work but the sky cleared just in time to get to the dealer and make the trade. she is such a sweat ride . I usualy dont get excited about a new bike but this one is totaly diferent. the handling the power the seat position the bars are just right . I think they made this one just to fit me.the tourqe is incredable!!!!! but she is very well behaved. Off idle roll ons to 4000 are very simalar to the zzr.
I am of course breaking her in acording to the book so 63 mph in 6th at 4000 is pretty much where i stand but i can feel that this bike is very user friendly just cant wait to get past 500 to get a little more go .
who makes the best fender elliminator for the current 10? I got to get rid of that thing behind the tail ?????what was kaw thinking???
as far as the suspension goes she is a little stif but she should settle in nice. I wont make any changes till the springs and shocks break in a bit.
wouldent want to softent them up and then have them go to far south.

A lot of guys just make their own eliminators. You should still set the sag even during break-in. Especially running the oem tires. Congrats on the pick up of the new ride.

past 500 miles now what a ride i am loving the new bike . took on a porshe today it got real small in my rear view still short shifting got to break her in right.
any one notice a little valve clatter on their 10 and do the valves get adjusted at 600 mile service?? i will take her in sat to service .
took the new bike to the local car and bike show on sat night . i put on the fender elliminator kit from parts unlimited with the led tag light . real slick install and only took an hour.make a long story short. With a little quick detail the 10 took home best bike and got lots of stares.
ride safe John
