Default Opinions Please

Hi,

I joined the site a day or so ago. I am very interested in the new ZX-14 touring bike. Before I plunked down some change I wanted to see what you all had to say about the bike. I will not be buying one soon since I would like to hear long term views on the bike. I hope to gain as much information as I can from your experiences.

I am 5'8/160 pounds/inseam 30'. My current bike is aGerman Sports Cruiser and weighsin over 600 lbs dry

Thanks and looking forward to reading your posts

Now I could be mistaken as I've never ridden one but I'm pretty sure the 14 is not a touring bike but a genuine sportbike and a rocket at that. Not sure if thats what your looking for but it'll be a 1/3 less weight then your cruiser and unless your cruiser includes a small jet in the back, considerbly faster. Hope this helps until someone else comes along who has ridden it.

Are you talking about a ZX-14 or the Concourse 14. There are some differences from what I understand. Different frame, seating position. I've sat on a 14, but not the Connie. I'm going to try to demo one at Biketoberfest to see if I want one or an FJR. I've ridden and FJR and it was sweet.

Thanks for your reply. The definition of a cruiservaries. I sat on the Z14 concours and it is BEAUTIFUL. My problem with the bike is weight. I am a small man and I am trying to go lighter.
Enclosed is a picture of me on my bike.It may not look like one, but it is a cruiser (with a punch). I havecrossed theUSA (FL toSeattle via Tucson and back) and have had a number of very long journeys. So to me the concours truly is a cruiser...
Thanks!!!!

ahh I see the confusion now, we all asummed you meant the ninja zx14r not the concours. Yes the concours is a cruiser where as the ninja is not. Right now you've posted in the ninja section so I think most will make the same assumption. Perhaps one of the moderators can move this post to the concours section so the replies are more in line with what you're looking for.

I don't think of it as a cruiser. It's a "sport touring" bike. Take the bags off and you should have a nice riding bike. Like I said in my earlier post, I rode an FJR and it handles the twisties pretty good. I'm sure the new Connie will too.

I would throw some bags on the zx14 myself and hit the wind!

As a matter of fact I've been gassin' for a new Concours 14. I was checking one out at the dealer yesterday (when my son was picking up his new 650R) and I want one bad. I currently ride a Nomad, though and will wait a few years and think about it as per another thread I posted.
