Default Update on my GPZ, she is alive

Hey everyone,

I have some updates to my gpz experience.

I inherited the bike from my late uncle, and rode it last summer.
First bike ever! yay for me.
Good news is I did not also pass away.
I did roach some crank/rod bearings, and as a reuslt scratched my bored out cylinders a little bit.
But not before some punk decided it would be cool to get drunk and go kick someones ride over at 2am.
I sued him for $2100 for a cracked fairing and some turn signals, it was a high estimate.
Now all I need is for rocks to bleed, and him to get a job.
Anyway.
I bought an engine on eBay for $71, thanks Houghracing in redhook.
Engine looks great, clean inside, starter clutch works. Good deals.
I swapped my CR special smoothbores on and it looks good.
Aside from a small cam chain tensioner issue on my first ride.
I had to reset the damn thing without a screwdriver, I mcgyver'd a screwdriver from the pocket clip on my tire guage.
Anyway, the camchain sound sbetter since I swapped a different tensioner on.
Are they all a little bit noisy? How often do you generally change a cam chain?
The book only gives testing methods that require you to remove the cams and chain and measure.
If I am doing all that ill just put a new chain on regardless.

Also, I am guessing that if that cam chain comes apart its going to cause some major problems in the bottom end.
If it breaks will it lock the motor, or just destroy everything around the gear and chain.
Also, the book says you have to remove the cams, cant I just take the gears off the cams to change chains?

I will post pictures of the various stages of destruction and reconstruction.

Glad it's all coming together!

I'm surprised you saw/found the guy who kicked over your bike! That's great. Now, you just have to wait for the deadbeat to get a job![:'(]

The cam chain tensioners on the old Kawi's always seem to suck! I had to replace mine. I went with the APE manual tensioner and couldn't be happier.

Get some pics up ASAP![8D]
