hot cams?
The '86-'89 KLR250 made 28bhp and 22ft/lbs of torque. From '90 to '05 the bike only made 22bhp and 18ft/lbs. of torque (as per the Factory service manual). Why would Kawasaki detune the engine like that? Emissions? Reliability problems?
The only difference that I can tell is a change in cam profiles (lift and duration). Everything else, carb, carb jetting, ignition timing, cylinder head, compression, air filter, is exactly the same.A set of '89 cams are available from my local dealer for about $450. Imagine getting 27% more hp and torque thru a simple cam change? You'd pay that amount for an aftermarket exhaust system and maybe get 2hp over stock????
Anybody out there ever do this? Did it work? Did you send your valves thru your piston face? Seize the bugger up?
LET ME KNOW!
